About Therapy
What to look for in a therapist?
You want to look for a therapist that makes you feel heard and understood without judgment. One that keeps the focus on you and is open to your feelings and concerns. A therapist that is respectful and keeps a professional therapeutic relationship with you. One that does not make decisions for you, but through the work guides you to make those decisions for yourself.  A therapist who is able to point out options, if needed, without imposing or using self morals, values and beliefs. One that tailors each session to your needs and concerns.
How do therapy sessions work, and how long does each session take?
Dr. Shoham offers an initial 15 minutes phone session to gain a brief understanding of your challenges and needs.  This information is used to assess whether she will be a good fit for your concerns. Typically, sessions are 50 minutes, but longer sessions may be reserved if requested in advanced. Sessions are by appointment only and are often an agreed consistant day and time of the week. Depending on the needs of each client, sessions can range from once a week to more if needed.
Do you take my insurance?
Dr. Shoham is an out-of-network provider. However, as a way to help, a super bill can be provided to be sent to your insurance company upon request. Depending on each individual's insurance company and plan, reimbursements made to each client may be different.
What form of payment do you accept?
Dr. Shoham accepts cash or check as a form of payment at the end of each session.  If needed, other payment arrangements can be made.
